Cogne to Rifugio Vittorio Sella

The first day started in Cogne, some breakfast, walk around the town, and by packing up our very heavy backpacks, and leaving the car parked at the start of our hike, in Valnontey.

We spot a rare sight just at the start of our hike, a really daring snake.

The mix of warmth and heavy load made us scared of overpacking, but fast forward a few days, and it seems like we did quite well on packing.

We walked about 4 hours up to Rifugio Vittorio Sella, the first hut. About 30 minutes from arrival we spot our first goats.

We had a filling dinner, and some Branca Menta. But only after Bjorn has embarssingly lost at Uno Express…

We had our own private room, a space with a 3 level bunk bed ;)

An amazing day, a great start to our 5 day hike, and good muscle warm up for what was waiting next day.
